The Art of Prompting - Make AI 10x Smarter

Learn to give AI clear instructions using Task, Input Data, Context, Output Standards, and Sample Outputs. Explore prompting techniques that guide reasoning, use examples, and reduce fabricated information.

The Art of Prompting helps you develop a practical mindset for assigning work to AI and writing instructions that support your learning and work goals. Across three lessons, you explore AI’s capabilities and limitations, then learn how to provide the information it needs to produce relevant results.

The course begins with an introduction to how generative AI learns from data, refines predictions during training, and generates responses through tokens. This foundation explains why clear tasks, useful data, and appropriate context influence the quality of AI output.

You then explore Prompt Structure through five components: Task, Input Data, Context, Output Standards, and Sample Outputs. You learn how to select these components according to task complexity, provide longer material through attachments, and define response tone, format, length, audience, and information boundaries. Zero-shot, One-shot, and Few-shot techniques show you when to give direct instructions and when examples can help establish a consistent style or structure.

The final lesson introduces Chain-of-Thought and Zero-shot CoT as approaches to guiding step-by-step reasoning. You also examine hallucination and learn to build Truth Guardrails by restricting information sources, requiring AI to acknowledge missing information, and requesting a Confidence Rating to support further checking. Reverse Interview encourages AI to ask clarifying questions when essential context or data is missing.

By the end, you will have a foundation for writing clearer prompts, reviewing responses more critically, and using AI more purposefully for tasks such as writing, translation, summarization, classification, and report preparation. The course concludes by directing you to a final assessment.
